Thankful Trees

PictureI have been a little behind on my photo editing so I have not been doing posts lately.  Well I cleaned off my hard drive on my computer and now I have more room on my computer to upload and edit my pictures… so sit back and take it all in!
A few weeks back the boys and I did an art project… don’t have a heart attack.  I am not a kids crafty kind of mom.  They stress me out, I don’t like the messes that come with kids crafts, I am not the mom to keep art projects either – I see them awe over them appropriately and them toss them in the can.  Don’t hate me!
Well big brother’s occupational therapist suggested that he work on some fine motor skills.  One of her recommendations was paper tearing.  I thought about it and decided that I would brave some paper tearing.  As the boys were tearing paper I thought that we could actually turn the mess of paper tearing into a craft.
I traced the boys hands/arms and then I cut them out to make the tree trunk.  The boys took their torn up paper and glued them on the paper then I had big brother write down things he was thankful for (being that he can’t spell I encouraged him to sound out the words and just put down the letters that he knew), middle brother wrote the letters of his first and last name and little brother just had fun with all the craft supplies laying around the table.
After we were done I was rather proud of myself for hanging in there and doing a kids craft and they boys were really proud of what they made.  I can also report that now almost three weeks later I still have not thrown away this project!Picture
