I planted our garden a few weeks ago and everything is growing nicely. I planted corn, pumpkins, watermelon, cantaloupe, squash, tomatoes, jalapenos, and a few other things… that are not growing – but the listed first ones are growing. Our yard at one time, so we have heard used to be a well kept little gardening oasis. After we moved in I spent a few weekends weeding the massive garden beds. I chose to use two of them this year as our garden will relocate next year when we redo the yard. I picked items for our garden that I knew the boys and I would like to eat so that it would be something fun for them and not take too much time since there is still a ton of work that needs to be done in the house… like unpacking (yes, still!). Everything is growing nicely… weeds too – sakes that is a full time job trying to keep those darn weeds at bay since they have had free fun of the yard for the past two years.
My question is this though… you see that “ground cover” stuff. Looks like clovers. My garden beds are covered in them. It was like after cleaning out all the big huge weeds these little suckers have popped up all over the place. Do I need to pull them too? I have heard that it is okay to leave them but I wanted to see if there were any gardening gurus that had another opinion.
