Fall Road Trip to Grandma Joan’s Home

Two times a year I take a drive to Buena Vista to visit Michael’s mom with the boys.  I was worried with Zeke being in school if we would be able to make it out this fall.  Well a little last minute plans changed and we headed out there this weekend to spend a day.  The weather could not have been more perfect.  We left town right after Zeke’s soccer game and got to her place around lunch time.  The boys enjoyed the fresh air and the open space to ride bikes and explore.  I enjoyed catching up with Joan.  A lot of changes have come around for her and it was neat to sit and chat with her about them!  After we chatted for a while the boys asked Joan to come on an exploration with them.  So all three boys and I went walking around on some of her property… there is a shooting range, an old trash dump spot and oh yeah cactus!  As we are walking around I turn my head to watch Zeke doing something to look back at Riah who has chased Joan’s dog straight into a cactus patch.  As I am telling Riah to get out of there he turns to walk to me looses his footing and lands flat into the cactus.  Needless to say about forty minutes later… a whole lot of crying, screaming, picking, pulling, washing and then clean clothes he was fine.  Me on the other hand felt horrible.  I worked myself into such guilt that I gave myself a tummy ache.  Sakes alive – never dull!
Here are a few pictures from our day to Joan’s…PicturePicturePicturePicturePicture
