A few months ago I read an article on the MOPS blog and ever since then I have been meaning to set aside those bras that are in the top drawer that are not being used. Well, today is the day that I have collected them and I am wanting to encourage you to do the same! We all have bras that sit in the drawer that we think, “oh but it is so cute…” or “I know there is a reason I am keeping it…”, Well, you are right the organization “Free the Girls” is the reason that you are hanging onto those bras! What a better way to get rid of those bras that you rarely wear or the ones that you bought thinking, I just can’t pass up this deal… pass them along as a means of helping rescue woman from sex trafficking.
In November I set aside six bras that I have had sitting in my drawer and today I will box them up with $6 (one dollar for each bra to help with shipping) and tomorrow I will go to the post office and mail off my box knowing that they will go to a good cause.
Not quite ready to get rid of your bras? Don’t worry head to your local Goodwill and find a few, that way you are not only helping Free the Girls but also Goodwill. Remember that when you are purchasing bras make sure there is still plenty of life in them. I know for me I usually don’t get rid of my bras until there are wires poking my ribs and the connectors are missing a few brackets… those are not what Free The Girls is looking for. I actually found new bra that I loved at Victoria Secret and bought two of them, they fit marvelously and so the bras that are going are ones that have not fit and I have been making do with… So maybe you are in the same boat as me; in that case find a new bra that fits gloriously and then get rid of the ones that are “making do” for you and they may be just what another lady needs!
What better way to start your new year than knowing you are helping out another lady in another country!?! Happy New Year!
