Today middle brother had surgery to have his ear tubes removed. He was the lucky less than 1% that has to have his tubes surgically removed. Last summer we were having troubles with his ears bleeding and the doctor said he would like to try to make it past flu season before we removed them. A few weeks ago they started bleeding again and another visit to the doctor confirmed that surgery was going to be needed. Thankfully we were able to get into a cancellation spot and so he went in today to have them removed. Here in Colorado we have been having snow storm after snow storm with really cold temperatures and today was no different. Hubby took him and it wound up taking over two and a half hours to get to the hospital, which usually is about a forty-five-minute drive. I was worried that they would say they couldn’t do surgery because we were so late. Thankfully that was not the case! Brother took a little medicine nap and thirty minutes later his tubes were removed and he has two patches in each ear. Unfortunately, I slipped on some ice yesterday and sprained my ankle pretty bad so I was not able to be there with him at all, made my mommy heart uber sad. Daddy did snap a picture pre-surgery for me and kept me updated by text messages. Brother got home from surgery and was a little spacey, as was to be expected. He and I snuggled on the couch and watched Netflix all day. His ear started to hurt around dinner time so another dose of ibuprofen and he was fine. Glad to be rid of those darn tubes, they served him well for a while.
