Mini Vacation

img_0719The middle of October little brother and I hoped on a plane for a little mini vacation to San Diego and we had a blast.  I had a few things on my bucket list and we met those and then some more!  I wanted Mexican food, sushi, sun rise and sunset at the beach and then some sand in my toes.  As our plane landed in San Diego little brother was so excited to see his Papa and Gigi, who picked us up and rushed us to the closest and yummiest Mexican food.  Little brother and I stayed at my youngest sister’s house with her husband.  They were great hosts, we had a comfy bed lots of food and a quiet place!  The first day agenda was doughnut breakfast at a small but famous shop in Escondido.  Then off to the beach for the day.  As we got to the beach it was super overcast and kind of gloomy but the clouds lifted and it was a beautiful day.  I sat with my toes in the sand and was reminded of the one thing that makes me miss San Diego still, the beach.  After six years of living in Colorado I love it and I don’t think I would ever move back to San Diego but as I sat on that beach my dedication to Colorado began to waver! img_0727 img_0730

However after a few hours of splashing and playing at the beach and getting home to the five pounds of sand caked in ears, toes and every where, I was reminded… I do not like the sand, don’t get me wrong I love sand at the beach but not in the car, not in the bath tub, not in the bed!
The next day was a quiet day of lounging.  My sister kept asking me if I wanted to go and do something and I had to remind her that I go and do every day and to sit with my feet up and relax was actually very nice.  We enjoyed dinner with my grandma and her sister.  After dinner we headed over to the winery that hubby and I got married at and enjoyed some live acoustic music and some wine. img_0748 img_0747

The next morning the plan was to enjoy sunrise at a local park that boasts 360 degree views of Northern San Diego.  The website stated that the park opened at one time and apparently it was wrong… needless to say my mom, little brother and I enjoyed a little morning walk to the top of the point at just the right time to see the sun’s first morning flares.  It was truly a beautiful morning with weather so wonderful!

After watching the sunrise we had breakfast and then headed to the beach for another glorious day.  At one point I even jumped in and swam and the whole time I was thinking… “It is the middle of October and I am swimming in the ocean!  Salt water in my hair and sand on my toes, life can’t get any better!”  A full day of beach and then an short visit with my great aunts and then back to the beach to watch the sun set. img_0759 img_0761

It truly was a wonderful mini vacation.  I came back to Colorado and it was a chilly 40 degrees but I had a tan that made the cold not feel so bad!
