Over the Hills Through the Mountains

With two brothers in school every day of the week I was having a hard time trying to find the time to visit my mother in law but with Thanksgiving break upon us it was the perfect time.  With no severe weather in the forecast yesterday brothers and I loaded into the car and headed to Buena Vista for a day trip.  The drive out was uneventful, we stopped at ChickFilA for their free breakfast, stopped by the RedBox to get two movies and then Starbucks to get me a yummy seasonal drink.  I have gotten into a little routine of how the trip there goes and it is nice.  I sip my hot beverage from the lady in green and brothers watch their movie.
We arrived to my mother in law’s house and we chatted in the house for awhile all while brothers explored her home.  She has a lot of little treasures and trinkets and since I think I have “deprived” my children of such items they were in finders paradise!  We got a few snacks and then headed out to the property for a little more exploring, rock climbing and greeting the animals.
All in all a great trip!  The drive home was a little sketchy I will say though.  The wind started howling and the snow started falling make it a little hard to navigate the roads.  What normally takes two hours took a little more than three!  Thankfully I left Buena Vista while the sun was still up hoping to navigate the areas that I am least familiar with in a little light knowing that even with snow blowing I would have some light.
Making the trip twice a year has become such a blessing to me and I am sure to my mother in law, allowing her to get to see her grandsons grow and become strong men.  Family really is invaluable! img_0881 img_0888 img_0899 img_0900
