Reading Rampage

When I read books I go through a marathon of reading and then I don’t touch a books for months or even years.  The last two months I read three books, granted three books in two months is not crazy but since the last time I sat and read was oh over a year ago it was pretty impressive.  I picked up a Francine Rivers book called “Her Mother’s Hope” and read through that.  I really enjoyed it, it was the story of a girl setting out on her own against her father’s wishes but fulfilling her mother’s wish for her to spread her wings and fly.  I liked the book so much that I reserved the next in the series at the library along with another of Francine Rivers’ books.  The next title that became available at the library was “The Atonement Child”.  I enjoyed that book and read through it rather quickly.  The the next in the series became available “Her Daughter’s Dream”.  Again another winner of a book.  I will say though that with reading the stand alone title between the two in the series was a little hard because I felt my mind wandering between characters and I was having a hard time keeping everyone’s story correct.  I will say that when I spent time to read a book I find myself investing in the characters and their lives so much so that once the book is done I find myself missing them and wondering what they are doing and what is going on with them.  They become my friend and I carrying their stories in my heart and mind.  I know that must sound absurd but I can’t imagine I am the only one to feel of think that.  In my opinion that means the the author has done such a wonderful job creating their characters, so round of applause to Francine Rivers!
My kindle’s screen broke about a month ago and so I bought myself another e-reader and I have yet to pick it up to read off of it because I have been getting my books from the library.  There is just something about reserving a book and having it put on a special shelf with your name on it and then getting an email letting me know my book is ready.  The boys and I have been spending a lot of time at the library.  Big brother even goes with us occasionally and he usually has a list of books that he wants to get and I send him to the librarians desk and he describes what he wants and she then ushers him to the shelf and spends the time with him picking out just the right books.  Currently big brother is interested in reading about Army vehicles.  I am not sure what sparked that interest but our last trip to the library had him walking out with ten books on the subject.  Middle brother is more of the kind that walks down the isle and finds something that looks cool and then dumps the entire shelf into the bag.  Little brother knows right where Curious George and his friends are and heads straight for there.  As a mom I am truly grateful for the public library system and I am not sure what I would do with out.
