To Scrap or Re-Build

img_9836This week here in Colorado we have had some crazy wind storms.  One such wind storm made our swing set crash over… that was 850 pounds of wood blown over and destroyed.  Like I said crazy wind storms!  Well, the hubby and I are trying to decide if we make a claim with our insurance company or just calls it quits with the play structure and move on.  I have been torn, during the nice weather the boys spend a lot of time playing out in the backyard, between the trampoline and the playground they keep themselves pretty occupied.
On one hand I know they play on it a lot but on the other hand, I am not sure for how much longer they will think it is a fun place to play.  Hubby and I have plans for putting sprinklers in the back yard this summer and try and get some real grass growing and make things nice and enjoyable back there, so does that mean not having a play structure that is 26×11 feet taking up a portion of the backyard?!?!  Not exactly sure!
Tonight while the snow is falling and we are all snuggled in our house I am dreaming of summer days in our backyard and I came across some really cool back yard play structures and then I got to thinking… yes, I know that can be dangerous… what if we built a tree fort/platform and eliminated the playground and just elevated it in our tree in the middle of the back yard?!  So these were a few pictures that I came across…

So what do you think?  My thought is that we have a lot of scrape wood now in the yard from the blown over play structure… don’t you think we can re-use it and turn it into an awesome play platform/fort?  Oh, the ideas are turning!
